It was described on Andrew Gower's personal site and this description read:
I started grinders about a year ago just after releasing Battle Zone, but I never finished it. I've now touched it up a bit and released it here! Grinders is basically a light-cycles game, but with every extra option I could think of - including an all-new curvy control option! Flamers, crushers, cleaning robots! power ups, and more... It currently only supports 2 player games. Try to get more points than your oppenent by not being the first to crash. You also get bonus points for taking risks!

To load grinders double click on 'grinders.prg' To run under PaCifiST I recommend version 0.48 and Tos 1.62 After loading the program you will be presented with the options screen. Use the joystick to select different boxes, and press the fire button to toggle an option. By moving the joystick over the player names, and you can use the keyboard to enter your name.
The optional extras do the following things:
Obstacles - Select how many obstacles you want per match.
Crushers - Use this to enable crushers, cycling through a crusher safely earns 1 bonus point.
Spinners - Like crushers, but harder to get through.
Flames - When this is enabled flame turret will be randomly placed along the walls making the game harder.
Cleaner Robot - This is a little robot which runs around the level wiping out the deadly trails your bikes leave behind.
Risk Bonus - When this is on you get extra points for going through crushers, and spinners.
Length Bonus - When this is on you get an extra points if your manage to get your trail long enough on a level.
Player 1..4 - Use these the keyboard to change these to the players names
2 Human Players - Currently only 2 player games are supported
Control - Select whether you want tradition staright controls, or curvy mode! Curvy is harder to master, but more fun!
Shieldblocks - Makes green blocks appear randomly - collecting one of these allows you to cross your trail once without dieing.
Switchblock - Moving over these switches the 2 players positions
Clearblock - Collecting this wipes everything from the screen.
Playgame - Once you've selected all your options press this to start.
Each player must use the joystick to steer around the screen, avoiding crashing into the obstacles or the trails the cycles leave behind. If you crash your opponent gains 2 points. The current score can be seen at the top of the screen.
